Hello Angel, Where We Go From Here - Part7

The next couple of days Frank though about what he saw. Jade kept telling him it was nothing but something made him doubt her words. He needed someone to talk with about it. He wondered who had the biggest chance in believing such a weird story and the first guy that came to mind was Gerard.
He was in the same room as Gerard so it wasn’t hard finding time to tell him in person and since he got the idea in the middle of the night he woke up his future listener.
“Gerard!” he kept his voice low and charming like a mother speaking to her child.
“Just a minute mommy.” he said sleepily covering his head with the pillow. “Did you change Mikey’s diapers? I don’t want anymore ‘accidents’.” Frank choked on his own spit at that discovery and made a promise to himself that he was going to use the information one day.
“Gerard, there’s coffee for you. The only thing I want from you is to wake up and get it.” he knew his soft spots so when he stood up eyes wide open and fully awake it wasn’t a big surprise.
“Coffee? Where?” his eyes wondered the room in search for his beloved drink and landed on Frank in the end. “Oh. It’s only you.” he said it his words full with disappointment. “What do you want? If you need someone to hug again I’m not falling for that this time!”
“Nah,” Frank let himself dive into sweet memories before continuing, “I have something to tell you. It’s been keeping me awake for two nights straight and if I don’t share it I’ll blow up.”
“Can’t it wait?” Frank gave him a puppy look and put his hands together as if he was praying. “Oh fine. What is it?”
“Yay!”
“Shhhhh!” he placed his index finger on his lips, “The others are sleeping you idiot!”
“Yay!” his hyper friend repeated more quietly than before. “Anyway, it might sound crazy but I think I saw a ghost. It was right when I was kissing Jade…”
“Okay, Frank, don’t get mad at me if you wake up in a white room in a jacket that’s definitely not your size.”
“Ha, ha, very funny Gee. I’m being serious. It was floating in the air and it looked dead. I though that you of all people would believe me!”
“Okay, I believe you.” he sighted. “Even if what you saw was a ghost what are you going to do about it?”
“You’re the genius! Think of something to help me.”
“I’ll sleep on it first.” Gerard buried himself in his bed covers and pretended to snore.
“Cut the snoring.”
“Fine.” he stopped
Frank didn’t fall asleep though. He lied in bed staring at the ceiling. The night went by slowly as his mind got filled to the brim with theories of what he saw. Eventually her got tired and dozed of to disturbed sleep. It didn’t last for long because it was morning already and he had to get up.
Gerard was also worried for Frank. He woke up every ten minutes and checked on him to see if he was feeling okay. He relax when he saw him sleeping at last and decided to get out of bed since it was a wonderful early morning. He put on some clothes and left the room careful not to wake up anyone else. Something made him use the stairs to go to the restaurant instead of the elevator and when he finally reached his destination he was out of breath and regretted his choice.
“I…have to…stop…smoking.” he muttered between breaths. “Mind note to myself: Stairs are evil.” People passing him bay gave him odd looks for talking to himself.
Gerard went inside the restaurant and absorbed the view of everyone in there looking happy and eating their breakfast. To others it might have seemed like an ordinary picture but it reminded him a huge family and he imagined to be a part of it. It gave him a feeling of belonging somewhere, fitting in. He was always away from his real family except for Mikey but it got lonely sometimes, even with his best friends there.
He spotted a familiar face in the room and a smile graced his pale face. Angel. She was sitting alone reading a big book. She was in a world of her own, lost in whatever it was in the book. She had forgotten to eat her breakfast that was before her. She held the fork in her hand like she was going to put it in her mouth any second now. Her hair fell down like a waterfall. Gerard hurried to reach her and longed to hear her voice again.
“Can I join you?” he asked shyly and blushed lightly when she looked up at him and smiled in respond.
“Oh, hi Gerard. How did you sleep? And yes, you can join me. You didn’t really need permission. I like you around.” she abandoned the book and gave him all her attention.
“Thank. Me too.” he sat down. “What were you reading?” he tried to read the title turned upside-down but Angel quickly hid it with her hand.
“Oh…Um… Just a book about… a girl… and she falls in love but then she…has to kill her lover because he…. Well I haven’t read the end yet” she made up the story in a moment. It was a try of hers to give him a hint of what awaited him. She wanted to worn him to run away from her. She didn’t want to hurt him because he was starting to love him for real.
“Sounds…interesting.” he didn’t get it though. He scratched his neck hoping it would help him keep up this conversation. “I haven’t heard of it before.” he was speaking awkwardly and he knew it.
“It’s new.” she picked up on her breakfast again avoiding his gaze. “So do you want to get revenge on Jade and Frank for before?”
“Huh?” he stopped staring at her. “Oh, yes. Three cheers for sweet revenge.” Jade laughed a little at his joke.
“I’ll meet you here for lunch and one ish. Come to plot the revenge.” She left some money on the table and got up. “I have to go now.”
“I’ll pay.”
“No thanks but its sweet of you to offer.” she leaned in and gave him a peck on the lips.
He enjoyed her touched and wanted more but she ended it. He opened his eyes and saw something he wished he didn’t. The Zafier or, in his eyes, Frankie’s fiction coming true.
